Till now we all known about the RG. Kar Medical College and Hospital raped and murdered incident that took place on 9th August 2024. In brief if we discuss about the case, mainly a second-year postgraduate female trainee had raped and murdered in the seminar hall.

Following Dr Sandip Ghosh’s resignation as principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the scene of a junior doctor’s rape and murder, Dr. Sandip Ghosh was moved to Calcutta National Medical College.

As Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar MCH, receives set to hand the position across on Tuesday, doctors, interns, and staff via Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital are blocking the path to the principal’s office.

Students at Calcutta National Medical College organized an action on Tuesday against the selection of Dr. Sandip Ghosh to their college. Following a postgraduate trainee physician being assaulted and murdered, Ghosh resigned as principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

By locking the CNMC principal’s room and sitting on a dharna in front of it, the students rendered it obvious that they would not accept Dr. Ghosh as their new principal.

Students had demanded that Dr. Ghosh be fired as principal following the rape and murder of the doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The West Bengal health department, however, was hesitant to have him taken out. Dr. Ghosh resigned from his position on Monday morning, but eight hours later he was appointed principal of CNMC.

When word rose about Dr. Ghosh’s transfer order, doctors who were against the man turned more explicit in their protests.

Minister Javed Ahmed Khan and local MLA Swarnakamal Saha were filled with cries of “go back” immediately as they arrived at CNMC in the morning. Saha also serves as the Rogi Kalyan Samiti’s chairman. “This is not desirable,” Saha stated the people taking part. It’s high time for humanity to settle together to communicate.

While getting that, someone speaking out replied, “We don’t want to make CNMC another RG Kar Medical College.” Ghosh isn’t permitted to keep conducting the principal place.

In his resignation, Dr. Ghosh mentioned “political conspiracy” and “moral responsibility.” He had been under tremendous strain caused by rising criticism and reports of financial irregularities and poor leadership at the government-run Kolkata institute.

Sanjay Vashisth, the superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, had already been fired by the government.

Dr. Ghosh announced his resignation to reporters on Monday, saying, “My resignation was the only thing the people of the state demanded. Thus, I am leaving voluntarily and without being forced to do so. On social media, people are disparaging me. False charges are being spread by some people against me. I’m provoking students to ask for my dismissal. The doctor who passed away was like a child to me, and I believe in punishing the guilty. I am quitting my job as a parent.”

Dr. Ghosh, an orthopaedic professor, was promoted from his previous role at CNMC and appointed principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in mid-2021. Although there were no accusations against him during his time at CNMC, his time as the principal was clouded by controversy.

Twice at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, he was moved, but was promptly brought back. He was moved to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in May of last year, but the health department withdrew the transfer within 48 hours.

In the second case, he was moved once more, this time to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital, but he was brought back after a month. The transfer came after an incident of bullying at the college’s Manicktala Main Boys Hostel, where trainee doctors who were close to Dr. Ghosh were targeted with fingers. On September 11, 2023, he was moved to Murshidabad Medical College. He returned to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in October.
