In the world of glitz and glamour of the Hindi movie industry, glamour and success often overcome the personal life and personal stories of those, who are associated with it. Despite being so much successful in his life and in the films he does, such as his blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ in recent times, he has always been extremely candid about his personal life. He has always shared inspiring stories from his life stories that have been inspiring for millions of his fans and have motivated them to progress in their life. In one recent interview with an online news portal, Shah Rukh Khan shared with his audience how a comfortable relationship he would be in with his mother till his late 20s and how his mother would cuddle him by feeding him with her own hands till his 25 years of age.
The Motherly Love
In one interview with an online news portal, Shah Rukh Khan became extremely candid about his personal life and how it has influenced him in every aspect of his life and has given him the shape that he is in at this moment. While talking about his family, he referred to the unbreakable bond that he would share with his mother till quite late in his age. Shah Rukh Khan told how his mother would be finicky and fussy about him, though, all in the good sense of the term out of love for her son. She would even go to the extent of feeding him with his own hands till 25 years of age.
Sharing those lovely and wonderful memories from his childhood, Shah Rukh Khan would reveal, “When I was a kid, I always wanted to grow up, and now that I am old, I miss my childhood. I think it’s the best time of our lives when we are so carefree. I remember my mom used to feed me with her own hands for the longest time — until I was about 25. So, I am still ill at ease eating with my own hands. I look ridiculous!” He said that he would often feel nostalgic and lost in old thoughts remembering the cute moments that he would share with his parents, especially, his mother Lateef Fatima Khan. He went on to share that his parents were more like friends to him rather than parents with, whom he could and he would share everything in his life. However, as per his witty style, Shah Rukh Khan did not fail to pass the remark on himself that he is so accustomed to getting fed by his mother’s hands that even today at the age of 58 and being the father of three children himself, he finds himself in quite an uncomfortable position when it comes to him having food with his own hands.
The Khan Parental Diet
While talking about his parents, Shah Rukh Khan revealed how he would be pampered with quite an odd diet that would be devised by his parents and how that would make him look very ridiculous trying it out on his children now. He funnily remarked that if he would ever dream of trying it out on his three children at this moment, they possibly would sever all ties with him on the spot. “I have grown up on Mughlai and Deccani food. See, my father was a Pathan and their love for food is legendary. My father loved not just eating, but also cooking. So my Pathan father’s rain would make a perfect combo with my Hyderabadi mother’s mutton biryani and the khatti dal. My parents used to mix these and feed me. I don’t do that with my kids, they would disown me! But yes, I have baked for them or rustled up pasta. I have baked Batman cookies with Aaryan when he was a little boy. I can boil eggs, and make tea. And I make very good phulkas. I can make rather decent pasta also,”
Nostalgia Kicked In
Shah Rukh Khan would often feel nostalgic and emotional while talking about his family, especially, his childhood days that he would spend with his parents. The story of Shah Rukh Khan and his childhood memories would resonate deeply with a number of his fans and captures the emotional bondage that is shared between a mother and a child. Though it may seem to be rather a small as well as a childish act on the part of his mother, this would reflect the love, care and support that would be conveyed by his mother towards him and his only sister Lala Rukh Khan. Unfortunately, he lost both his parents at quite an early stage in his life. His father, Mir Taj Mohammad Khan, was an ethnic Pathan (Pashto) from the Peshawar side is currently in the northwestern side of the country of Pakistan, whereas his mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, was from the city of Hyderabad. Shah Rukh Khan lost his father to prolonged illness from cancer at the age of 14 and his mother too of the same disease in the year 1990. No wonder the ‘Jawan’ too sometimes turns nostalgic and emotional, when it comes to his parents. He mentions that his parents have always supported and encouraged him in his dream of choosing the field of acting after he wanted to become one being inspired by the late actor Dilip Kumar and the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.
Shah Rukh Khan’s revelations about his mother and parents, in general, is a proof of her persistent care and nurturing nature of her that offers a touching glimpse into his p[personal life and the impact that she had on his growing up. The love from the side of his mother towards him and vice versa brings true the quotation by Princess Diana on motherhood, “A mother’s arms are more comforting than anyone else’s.” it is a reminder of the unconditional and sometimes unspoken adoration that exists between a mother and a child, no matter the age of the child. A mother would always hold the hearts of their children even if they would hold their hands for a short while. As we ponder upon the loving gesture that he has towards his mother even after so many years, we must also try to take out some time of us to thank our supermoms, who have worked and sacrificed relentlessly to make our lives wonderful.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan has just finished worldwide appreciation for his recently released blockbuster,’ Pathaan’ and is eagerly waiting for the release of his second yet-to-be super hit movie ‘Jawan’ directed by Atlee. He still has ‘Dunki’ by Rajkumar Hirani in his hand.
