Curd Fish Curry

INGREDIENTS

1. Rohu fish pieces – 7-8 pieces
2. Onion- 2 big sized onions
3. Ginger paste- 1 teaspoon
4. Garlic paste – 2 teaspoons
5. Whole cashew nuts -7-8
6. Melon seeds- 2 teaspoons
7. Garam masala powder – 1/2 teaspoon
8. Fresh yogurt- 2 tablespoons
9. Sunflower oil – 4 tablespoons
10. Green chilies – 5-6
11. Salt to taste.
12. Water- 2 cups
13. Whole spices like cinnamon sticks, green cardamom, bay leaves, and cumin seeds.
14. Whole red Chili- 2-3
15. Ghee- 1 teaspoon

HOW TO MAKE CURD FISH CURRY

Curd fish curry is very easy to make. Now let me teach you how to prepare tasty Curd Rohu Fish Curry recipe in a quite simple way.
STEP-1
MARINATE THE FISH: First you need to marinate the Fish with a pinch of turmeric and salt as per taste and keep aside for 5 minutes.
STEP- 2 
FRY THE FISH: Now take a pan or kadai and heat the pan on a medium to High flame. Then add oil and heat as well. Then gently place the marinated fish into the pan and shallow fry the fish from both sides. Once the fish is properly fried then take out the fish and place them on a plate.
STEP-3
To make a cashew nuts and melon seeds paste, take a small sized bowl, add whole cashew nuts and melon seeds soak in water for 10 minutes. Then with a blender make a fine paste of them.
STEP-4
MAKE THE CURRY: To make the masala, add 2 tablespoons of oil in that same pan, then add a pinch of cumin seeds, 2-3 whole red chillies, 1 green cardamom, 2 cinnamon sticks and 2 bay leaves for tempering.  Then add sliced onion and fry until it turns golden. Then add ginger garlic paste and saute for two minutes. Now add sliced green chillies and salt as per taste. Then add curd or yogurt into it and mix it well. Cook the masala until the masala leaves oil. Then add cashew and melon seeds paste and stir it well.
STEP-5
MAKE THE GRAVY: Now add 2 cups of water to the pan and bring to a boil. Cook the gravy for 5 minutes. Then add the fried fish and cook it for 2 minutes. When the curry is ready, then add 1 teaspoon ghee and garam masala powder.
Now the delicious Rohu Curd Fish curry is ready to serve with steamed rice.

NOTES

Apart from Rohu fish If you want you can make this fish curry with Katla fish. It’s called “Doi-Katla” . In the same process you make this recipe with Katla fish also.
