On the auspicious evening of Wednesday at almost 6:04 hours as per the Indian Standard Time, India has created a remarkable moment in its history of Rover landing on the moon. The lunar mission of Candrayan-3 that was undertaken had successfully been executed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The entire country was busy celebrating the victory of India by creating history with its landing on the southern pole of the moon for the first time to provide us pictures of that side of the moon that would remain dark to the normal eyes of human beings, it would also come as another moment of excitement for billions and billions of several Indian movie lovers to know that two of the most popular names from the Hindi movie industry have pieces of land as well as craters on the moon owned by them and named after them.

Chaand Taare todh laoon….Saari Duniya par main chhaoon”

The ‘Yes Boss’ actor sang a song featuring the lines, “Chaand Taare todd laoon….Saari Duniya par main chhaoon” to his co-actor Juhi Chawla in this movie that was released in the year 1997. Though he congratulated the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), possibly very few people would know that this man is a proud owner of a piece of land on the moon. The piece of land that has been owned by the ‘Jawan’ actor has been quite a popular area on the lunar surface that has been the focus of scientists for several years now. The area is known as the ‘Sea of Tranquility’. The place was bought for the actor by one of his ardent fans, known as Sandi, from the country of Australia. The actor even claimed the authenticity of the incident in one recent interview with an Indian news portal, “An Australian lady buys a little land on the moon for me every year on my birthday. She has been buying it for a while now and I get these certificates from the Lunar Republic Society. She writes me colourful emails (in the sense one line is red, one is blue and so on). I feel blessed to have the love of so many people worldwide.” When another online news portal contacted his fan, Sandi about the buying of land for the actor on the surface of the moon, “Yes, it’s true that I bought a block of land on the Moon for King Khan, as I wanted him to be the first Hindi film hero on the Moon! I want him to always be first with everything For his birthday in 2002, I had a star in the Scorpius constellation named after him, (which was also a first for a Hindi hero) and the Moon’s idea was to follow the ASOKA theme of the Sun, the Moon and the Stars. Maybe for my next birthday, I will have organised something to represent the Sun.” On top of this, she said, “Though I have written to Shah Rukh many times, I know that he doesn’t answer fan mail, but when he mentioned me in his interview, it’s more than compensated! I was understandably ‘over the Moon’ with joy. Shah Rukh has shown me such respect and gratitude for what I have done for him that he will always be my hero.” Not just a piece of land on the moon, the actor has also been given a crater on the surface of the moon that is known as ‘Shah Rukh’.

As per the reports of an agency that functions online regarding the purchasing of land on the surface of the moon, the ‘Sea of Tranquillity’ would offer patches of land of the measure of just 1 acre on the surface of the moon at an average price of 37.50 dollars. This place on the surface of the moon is considered to be a lunar hotspot’ as it is the most looked-after place on the surface of the moon.

This quite an unusual way of giving tributes to a favourite actor has been able to reveal the strong connections that the fans have been able to strike up with their favourite personalities and the extent to, which they can take themselves in their demonstration of the love and respect that they would be having for their fans.

‘Chaand Kadam Bas Chaand Kadam’

Not just the iconic ‘Jawan’ Khan of the Hindi movie industry, even the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput also owns a piece of land on the moon. Given the scientific background that he was from as a student and his deep interest in the field of astronomy, the ‘Kai Po Che’ actor decided to present himself as a piece of land on the surface of the moon. The land was bought on quite a distant side of the moon and was known as the ‘Sea of Muscovy’. It has been claimed by various verifiable sources that the actor would be so fond of his gift that he would ensure that he would watch that piece of land every day on the moon with a telescope that was specially designed for him to help him in studying the moon. It has been verified from authentic sources that have claimed that the cost of the land on the surface of the moon that was purchased by Sushant Singh Rajput was somewhere around 56 lakhs of rupees. His buying of the land on the surface of the moon demonstrates his interest in knowing the depths of the cosmos as well as a pining for connecting oneself with the universe and its vastness.

The ownership by Shah Rukh Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput of a part of the land on the surface of the moon formally referred to as the ‘Sea of Tranquillity’ and the ‘Sea of Muscovy’ respectively, has successfully demonstrated the strong linking ups between the world of movies and the world of science. The passionate tribute from a fan of Shah Rukh Khan and the deep urge to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos by Sushant Singh Rajput has intensified the intricate nature of the actors and their capabilities in giving inspiration to others. Therefore, it could be aptly claimed that the legacies of the actors have crossed beyond the boundaries of the Earth and have now left an indelible spot even on the surface of the moon.

The ‘Lunar Registry’ is the site, where anyone could go to buy a patch of land on the lunar surface. The buying of land on the moon through this site would not just facilitate the owners of the land in getting their property but at the same time would also provide the owners of the land with a beautifully designed note of acknowledgement, an image of the property that has been generated through a satellite and detailed information on the geographical features of the area that has been bought.
