I have grown up watching TV shows, animated series, and movies based on characters from DC and Marvel comics. As someone who loves watching heroic stories, it was always a fun time for me to watch how characters like Spiderman, the X-Men, or the Avengers would unleash their superhuman abilities on the screen, fighting bad guys and saving the day. In recent times, Marvel Entertainment has been able to make its services more exciting by introducing web series that are based on stories surrounding their characters. One of these web series was about the Marvel villain ‘Loki’ whose character is heavily inspired by the God of the same name from Norse mythology. Marvel has also introduced the concept of parallel universes and alternate versions of the same person to explain how Loki, who was captured by the Avengers and sent to Asgard in the first Avengers movie was able to escape his fate and live a completely different life in the web series. What is even more interesting is that the concept of alternate timelines shown in the series is also taken from real-world hypotheses introduced by scientists. Anyways coming back to the topic, Marvel has decided to launch another web series that will be a sequel to the previous one. The series has been officially titled ‘Loki 2’ and has got me very excited to know what the ‘God of Mischief’ has to offer us again.

Is ‘Loki’ to Unleash His Mischievous Side This Time Too?

Whenever someone who has only seen the MCU (Marvel Comics Universe) movies hears the word ‘Loki’, they immediately think of a villainous God who has to fight his brother ‘Thor’ and the Avengers while trying to take over the world and harm humanity. However, as a person who has read the original Marvel comic book storylines, I can say that the character is way more complex than that. The web series titled ‘Loki’ has already explored the complex nature of this character and it is obvious that ‘Loki 2’ will also do the same.

The series has started airing on Disney+ from October 5, 2023 onwards. The story is supposed to resume probably right from where ‘Loki’ had ended. This means that Loki will now have to face ‘Kang the Conqueror’ and will have to spend a lot of time travelling to save the multiverse. The trailer of this web series has already been released on July 31, 2023, at around 6:30 P.M. You can see the trailer on major online platforms like Twitter, Disney+, and YouTube. With Tom Huddleston coming back in his ‘Loki’ role, the trailer shows Owen Wilson reprising his character as ‘Mobius’. Sophie Di Martino who portrayed the role of female ‘Loki’ in the previous series will be seen here in the same role along with several other cast members from the previous series that will be reprising their former roles again. Jonathan Majors will also be returning as a variant of ‘Kang the Conqueror’. The series will also deal with the result of the events that happened in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantamania’. It will also be featuring new actors like KeHuy Kwan who will be playing an important character in the web series. The story is still kept a secret along with the magic that is to be unleashed by ‘Loki’ and the other characters.

It is still unknown as to whether we will be getting to see some of the popular characters from the non-MCU movies such as the ‘Fox X-Men’ films and the ‘Spiderman’ movies by Sony. However, rumors are that the events about to happen in this series will be sharing some connection with the upcoming MCU film ‘Deadpool 3’ which will also mark the return of Hugh Jackman as the character of ‘Wolverine’. Although I did not verify the veracity of the rumors, I am still excited to see what Marvel is going to do with the stories surrounding the multiverse. Since this series will deal heavily with it, I would like to see how this series will lead to the events that will possibly happen in ‘Avengers Secret Wars’ which is rumored to bring back all pre-MCU Marvel movie characters on the big screen. It will also show ‘Loki’ to be someone who has a good and heroic side to his character. The heroic side of Loki will be shown more this time in comparison to the previous ‘Loki’ series; although I still suspect that the ‘God of Mischief’ will be up to some kind of metaphorical trolling as usual.

Will ‘Loki’ Steal Everyone’s Hearts Again?

Thus, judging by the trailer, I feel that this series does have the potential to be a great success. It has been a long time since Marvel has gifted us with a series that has an engaging plot and no-nonsense sequences. The last web series which was ‘Secret Invasion’ has not done well and has also received negative reviews from the audience and critics alike. Therefore, the expectations surrounding ‘Loki 2’ are high. Only time will tell if the series will be able to live up to OUR expectations. However, like every other Loki’ fan out there, I am happy with the return of a classic character like him on the big screen once again.
