Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be launched globally on July 26 at the second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year. Samsung is holding this event in Seoul for the first time. The South Korean tech giant is expected to introduce the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and  Galaxy Watch 6 series in addition to foldable phones. Several reports, including leaked designs, have told us what to expect from the successors of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Here’s a rundown of everything we know about the phones so far.  In a year where many foldable smartphones like the Tecno Phantom V Fold,  Motorola Razr 40 and  Razr 40 Ultra have already been released, the two most anticipated releases this year are the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip. 5 from Samsung, the undisputed veteran of the foldable smartphone segment. After its launch on July 26, pre-orders for the phones are expected to open on the same day and the phones will go on sale in India from August 14. Samsung is all set to launch the most anticipated foldable smartphones – Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5  at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2023 on July 26, 2023. The event will be held in Seoul, South Korea. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Watch 6 series are expected to be announced during the upcoming  Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are launched as the successors of Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 and can give strong competition to several other foldable phones like Motorola Razr 40, Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, Tecno Phantom. V Fold and others. According to several online tips, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones might go on sale in India starting August 14. However,  official confirmation is still awaited.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Full Specification

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch Full HD (1812, 2176 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED main display and a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED cover display. The Galaxy Z Flip 5, on the other hand, is expected to get a 6.7-inch Full HD (1080, 2640 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED main panel and a 3.4-inch external screen. When folded, the larger screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 should allow users to access Google Messages, YouTube and Google Maps. Leaked live images of the book-style Galaxy Z Fold 5 suggest that when it’s open, it will have thin bezels on the sides and a thick chin underneath. On the back, there are three camera units in a slightly raised camera module and an LED flash on the outside. The images also show an almost gapless foldable design, three microphones and a speaker grill. The latest leaked hands-on videos and images of  Galaxy Z Flip 5 mockups revealed a larger, folder-shaped external display with dual cameras, but the much-anticipated waterdrop hinge appeared to be missing from the clam-like folding design. On the right side of the phone, you can see the volume rocker and the power button with an integrated fingerprint sensor, and on the left is the SIM card slot. There appears to be a USB Type-C charging port at the bottom. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5  use an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Galaxy Z Fold is said to offer 5 to 12 GB of RAM and the Galaxy Z Flip 5  to 8 GB of RAM. The phones are expected to launch in  256GB and 512GB storage options. These phones also run  One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13.

Camera Specification of the Phone

The Galaxy Z Fold 5’s triple rear camera system is believed to include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a second 12-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens. The screen on the cover is said to have a 10-megapixel camera, and the main internal screen has a 4-megapixel sensor below the screen for selfies and video chats.

In the camera department, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to feature a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera is likely to use a 10-megapixel sensor.

Battery and Other Exciting Features

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to have a 4,400mAh battery and weighs 253 grams, while the upcoming Samsung  Galaxy Z Flip 5 is equipped with a 3,700mAh battery. The phones also expect NFC, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 and have a USB Type-C 3.2 port.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 were said to be IP58 rated for dust and water resistance, but a later leak debunked the claims, suggesting that the foldable will continue to be splash-proof with IPX8, just like the current Galaxy Z.Flip . 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.

What will be the Price of the Phone?

The base 256GB variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to be priced at €1,899 which is Rs 1,72,400 approx, while the 512GB and 1TB variants are priced at €2,039 which is Rs 1,85,100 approx. Euro. 2,279 which is Rs. 206,900 c. The book-style foldable smartphone is expected to be available in black, blue and cream colours. Meanwhile,  the 256GB and 512GB variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to be available in cream, graphite, lavender and aqua green colours and will be priced at €1,199 (Rs. 108,900 approx) and €1,339 (Rs. 1, 21,600 approx.). Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are currently open through Samsung.com, Amazon, Flipkart and Samsung’s exclusive retail stores in India.
