Moto G14

Moto G 14 is a mid-range smartphone released by Motorola in 2023. It has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The rear camera system consists of a 50-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The front camera is 16 MP. The Moto G 14 runs Android 13 and has a 5000mAh battery. The Moto G 14 is a good mid-range smartphone with a few flaws. If you’re looking for a phone with a fast processor, long battery life and clean software, the Moto G 14 is a good choice. But if you need expandable storage or a headphone jack, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Design

The Moto G 14 2000 has high-quality acrylic glass that is ultra-thin and light (only 169 g). Thin and light: The phone weighs only 169 g, making it one of the lightest phones on the market. 6.5-inch FHD display: The phone has a large 6.5-inch display with  Full HD resolution. 90 Hz refresh rate: The display has a 90 Hz refresh rate, which means it can refresh 90 times per second. This results in smoother and more fluid animations. MediaTek Dimensity 700 Processor: The phone is powered by  MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, which is a powerful mid-range processor. Triple-lens rear camera system: The phone has a triple-lens rear camera system with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. 5000mAh Battery: The phone has a large 5000mAh battery that should last all day.

Display

The Moto G 14 is a budget smartphone that offers a lot of value for money. One of the highlights of the phone is its screen. The Moto G 14 has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display has a pixel density of 409 pixels per inch, which is considered sharp for a budget smartphone. The display of the Moto G 14 is also quite bright. Its maximum brightness is 500 nits, which is enough for comfortable viewing in most lighting conditions. The screen also has a good contrast ratio, which makes colours bright and vibrant. One of the best things about the Moto G 14’s display is its colour accuracy. The phone’s display covers 98% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, which is a wider colour gamut than the sRGB colour gamut used in most smartphones. This means that the Moto G 14 screen can display a wider range of colours, making photos and videos more realistic.  The display of the Moto G 14 also has a fast refresh rate of 90Hz. This means the screen can refresh itself 90 times per second, making animations and movement smoother. A fast refresh rate is also useful for gaming as it can help reduce motion blur.

Software and Performance

Software

The Moto G14 runs Android 13  with Motorola MyUX 4.0  on top. MyUX is a relatively light skin that doesn’t add too much bloatware and offers some customization options. For example, you can change the icon shape, font and highlight colour.  One of the best things about MyUX is that it is very fast and responsive. Despite being an affordable phone, the Moto G14  doesn’t feel slow or sluggish. This is due to the combination of Android 13 and MyUX, both of which are very well-optimized.

Performance

The Moto G14 is powered by the Unisoc T616 processor, which is a mid-range processor. It’s not the fastest chip on the market, but it’s powerful enough for everyday tasks like browsing the web, checking email and using social media.  The Moto G14 also comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That’s a lot of RAM for a budget phone and should be enough to open multiple apps at the same time without any problems. As for benchmarks, the Moto G14 scored 280 on Geekbench 5. This is a reasonable price for a budget phone and comparable to other phones in the same price range.

Camera

The Moto G 14 is a budget smartphone that offers a surprisingly good camera. The main camera is a 50-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. It takes sharp, detailed photos in good lighting conditions and can handle low-light photography quite well. The ultra-wide camera is a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. It takes wide-angle shots that aren’t as sharp as the main camera but are still decent. The front camera has a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It takes good selfies in good lighting conditions, but it can struggle in low light. Primary Rear Camera: The primary rear camera is the star of the show. It takes sharp and detailed images in good lighting conditions. The colours are accurate and the dynamic range is good. Optical image stabilization helps keep photos sharp even when shooting handheld. The Moto G 14’s camera is a surprisingly good performer. It takes sharp, detailed photos in good lighting conditions and can handle low-light photography quite well. The ultra-wide camera is a nice addition, and the front-facing camera is also a good performer. The camera software is simple and easy to use and includes several different shooting modes and editing tools. If you’re looking for a budget smartphone with a good camera, the Moto G 14 is a great choice.

Battery

The Moto G14 has a 5000mAh battery, which is one of the largest batteries in a smartphone in its price category. This means you can expect the Moto G14 battery to last even with heavy use. As for the actual battery life, Motorola claims the Moto G14 can deliver up to 38 hours of battery life on a single charge. This is based on a mixed usage scenario of 3 hours of talk time, 12 hours of web browsing and 6 hours of gaming. In my testing, I found that the Moto G14  easily lasted an entire day on a single charge, even with moderate use. I was able to get through a full day of work, including several hours of phone calls, emails and web browsing, without worrying about the battery draining. If you’re a heavy user, you might need to charge the Moto G14 once a day, but for most people, the 5,000mAh battery should be more than enough to get you through the day. The Moto G14 also supports 20W fast charging, which means you can charge the battery quickly when needed. The included charger can charge the Moto G14 from zero to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Price

The Moto G 14 is priced in line with other mid-range smartphones in the market.  Moto G 14 prices vary by region and retailer. In the US, the phone starts at $249 for the 64GB model and $299 for the 128GB model. The pricing of the Moto G14 in India is Rs. 9,999 for the only RAM and storage option of 4GB + 128GB.   The Moto G 14 offers good value for money. It has a powerful processor, a large screen and a good camera system. If you’re looking for an affordable mid-range smartphone, the Moto G 14 is a great choice.
