Instructions for the locals from CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu instructed locals not to venture outside for an additional 24 hours after launching helplines and claiming that the rainstorm had no signs of abating.

In video information, he stated, “I request all residents of the state to please stay home for the next 24 hours because very heavy rain is expected. We have arranged three helplines — 1100, 1070, 1077. .you can call these numbers in case of any emergency and I will also be available 24 hours.”

The CM urged lawmakers to set up camp in their districts, assist the populace, and make sure that they are “compensated for their losses.” According to him, the disaster has already claimed the lives of 14 individuals, and the state administration is working to save others who are trapped.

State education minister Rohit Thakur said, “We will review the situation so that the decision we make is for the safety of students,” according to news agency ANI. A committee that the CM has formed is gathering comments on everything minute by minute. In such unfavourable circumstances, our government will decide what is best.

Official’s statement

Officials stated that due to landslides blocking the track at numerous locations on the Shimla-Kalka line, rail operations have been delayed until Tuesday. On Monday and Tuesday, all state-run educational institutions were also instructed to close. In contrast to the typical rainfall of 160.6 mm, Himachal saw average rainfall of 271.5 mm from June 1 to July 9, a surplus of 69%.

Six individuals who were trapped in the Nagwain hamlet of Mandi were recovered by the NDRF team on Sunday night during a late-night rescue operation. The Panchvaktra bridge in Mandi was destroyed as a result of the Beas River’s water level rising. In the Mandi district, the flooding Beas River washed away the old bridges linking Aut village to Banjar and Pandoh village. The washed-away bridges, according to former chief minister Jairam Thakur, are the “identity of Himachal.”

In the Himachal Assembly, the ruler of the opposition pleaded with the central government to help those who were impacted by the bad weather in every way possible. Additionally, Thakur requested CM Sukhu to quickly and safely evacuate everyone.

According to NDTV, the hill state has been hit the worst by the monsoon mayhem, with Manali, Kullu, Kinnair, and Chamba suffering the greatest effects.
