No one can be oblivious to the iconic poster in mostly yellow and blue backgrounds that has a beaming Shah Rukh Khan carrying a smiling Kajol on his shoulders. In the poster, while Shah Rukh Khan was seen donning a black leather jacket and hat, Kajol was seen dressed in traditional wear decked with jewellery. This was done to give the feeling of Kajol being the ‘Dulhania’ being won over by the dashing and rocking ‘Dilwale’ Shah Rukh Khan.

The movie ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is an iconic movie from the 90s that rocked the entire Hindi movie industry. It brought a changed dimension to the Hindi movie industry. It won the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world. The success of the movie brought the two newcomers, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol to the forefront and won them both national and international fame. However, several times, the actors and actresses associated with the movie have revealed several funny anecdotes that took place behind the scene.

During an interview with ‘Curly Tales’ for the promotion of her new web series ‘Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon Aur Dhokha’, Kajol shared with the audience an incident during the shooting of the poster of the movie that left the entire shooting unit concerned with the health of the shoulders of Shah Rukh Khan, who was the protagonist in the movie. The lifting of the heroine Kajol on his shoulders took a lot of struggle for Shah Rukh Khan, injuring his shoulder at one point in time. However, everything turned out to be smooth with the shooting afterwards.

Battling the Challenge of Frozen Shoulder

As told to ‘Curly Times’ by Kajol, the process of shooting for the poster was no piece of cake for Shah Rukh  Khan and Kajol. The actress told the audience how worried she was for Shah Rukh Khan after she heard that she was to be lifted by Shah Rukh Khan on his shoulders for the shooting of the poster of the movie. She approached d him and even asked him whether he would be comfortable lifting her on his shoulders or not.  “One thing that comes to my mind is how I got into that position by the way. Ek toh bechara Shah Rukh kandhe pe uthaake… mujhe itna bura lag raha tha uske liye, itna bura lag raha tha (Poor Shah Rukh was standing with me on his shoulder, I was feeling so bad for him). I was like, ‘are you sure you can do this?’ He said, ‘Don’t worry, I am strong.’ I was like, ‘ya, but you have to carry me on your shoulder. Will you be able to?'” Kajol feels that the reason behind Shah Rukh Khan agreeing to lift her up was pure male ego. She felt that Shah Rukh Khan’s male ego might have gotten hurt on being put with a challenge to lift Kajol up, who was a tad on the heavier side at that point of time. Though everything looked perfectly flawless on the poster, the thing was not very easy for both of them to execute. Kajol said that Shah Rukh Khan did not flinch a tad while lifting her on his shoulder and did not make her feel heavy at any cost. “I was really worried about him. I think he took a hit on his masculinity ‘How can you say that to me? I am a guy.’ He very sweetly carried me and didn’t make me feel heavy at all… Later, there was a frozen shoulder. Us waqt tha ‘wow’ (that time it was wow)” said Kajol.

After the shooting got over, everybody was scared to see Shah Rukh Khan writhing in pain because of ‘adhesive capsulitis’ or a frozen shoulder. He was unable to move his shoulder for quite a long period. There was a painful stiffness in his shoulders that almost restricted the mobility of his shoulders. However, one thing that everybody appreciated about Shah Rukh Khan was that he did not flinch for a second even in that painful condition. He was indifferent to his condition and instead concentrated on the shooting of the movie.

Extreme Work Responsibility and Dedication

It is no new news to us that Shah Rukh Khan has always been serious about his work. Things were not different even then with him writhing in excruciating pain. Neglecting his discomfort, he decided to execute his work with passion. This incident teaches us a significant lesson regarding the truth that responsibility and dedication if could be coupled with hard work can lead anyone to success. The challenges that life puts before us could be easily dealt with if we have extreme passion and commitment to, whatever we are doing. This helps in giving a true shape to the character of a person.
