Kajal has never failed to mesmerize her countless number of fans with her co-star Shah Rukh Khan, so much so that they have become a household name in the Hindi film-loving audience. Any romantic pair or couple would inevitably get compared with the on-screen romantic ‘Jodi’ of Shahrukh and Kajal. The two superstars of the Hindi film industry have been winning over the hearts of their millions of fans with several of their memorable blockbusters such as the evergreen ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ), ‘My Name Is Khan, ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Karan Arjun’, the last film being quite memorable in the life of Shah Rukh Khan as it was the first time the two big brothers of the Hindi film industry was seen playing the role of the protagonists, namely Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. This film was the last time these two Khans were seen sharing the same screen as they had a big fallout after that, which recently got patched up by both of them in the year 2013.

Naturally, the countless number of fans, the media and the general public were always much excited to know how things had been behind the sets of the film. When the superstar and the forever ‘Simran’ of the Hindi film industry decided to come for the promotional event of her recent Hot Star application web series called ‘The Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon Aur Dhokha’, she was asked to share some of the memorable events from the filming of ‘Karan Arjun’ as this film has always been in the minds of the people for generations now. While answering one question from an interviewer, Kajol mentioned that she was having butterflies in her stomach before the shooting of the song sequence and was also being unable to control her laughter on hearing the funny lyrics of the song. It was at that moment when she had felt queer about her odd looks and the song that Shah Rukh Khan gave her a chide in his natural witty style and asked her to focus on the filming of the song instead. The entire incident has served as a testimony to the wonderful camaraderie between the two actors.

The Setting of the Scene

The song ‘Jaati Hoon Main’ was quite a funny song indeed. It featured the two on-screen lovers Karan and his girl. It was an energetic dance number that featured the vivaciousness and charm of the actors and the actresses associated with the filming of the song sequence.  However, despite the necessary arrangements, she was having bouts of doubt regarding her abilities during the shooting of the song. She was also being unable to control her laughter on hearing the lyrics of the funny song and so she was funnily chided by Shah Rukh Khan in his natural light humor.

The “I was Looking like a Horse” Moment for Kajol

While executing the on-screen romance between the two characters of Gunjan Saxena and Karan, they both had to shoot for a dance scene and then she was feeling nervous about it. She was wearing a wig and a costume that felt quite uncomfortable on her. She was also feeling a burst of laughter inside her belly on hearing the funny lyrics of the song and felt that she could burst out laughing at any moment. When she decided to share her experience with her long-time friend Shah Rukh Khan, he gave him a witty reply instead. Sharing that incident with the news portal ‘Mashable India’, she said, “We have laughed so much. I think Shah Rukh and me have laughed so much. I think he was giving me courage over here to say, ‘Please, finish the song.’ The dance part was the easy part. Not laughing out loud at it was the difficult part of it but I was like there are places in this where I look like the horses. (Laughs). He was like, ‘Just shut up! Just do it, get it over with. Finish it, please! He has always been like that, yeah!” she then went on to say that going by her innate nature of humour and wit, she took his instructions in stride. She was all-mouth in appreciation for him as she said that after that small admonition from Shah Rukh Khan, she was able to regain both her confidence and focus for the shoot. Both Shah Rukh Khan’s and Kajol’s ability to find humour in them have made their relationship quite easy over the years and made them lovable to their fans also. Kajol’s ability to laugh away at her imperfections and channel them into her perfections has solidified her position among the fans and the public even after a career that has spanned decades in the Hindi film industry. Undoubtedly, the same goes for Shah Rukh Khan too.
