One of the most fascinating groups of animals that have ever lived on Earth is the dinosaurs. These are mostly reptiles that had bird like characteristics. In fact, many scientists call them as the ancestors of birds and the link between birds and modern-day reptiles. As a person who has grown up watching movies like ‘Jurassic Park’ I have always been a fan of dinosaurs. When I was a child I always wanted to see a dinosaur myself only to be disappointed when I was informed that these magnificent creatures died 65 million years ago. However, a new conspiracy theory says that dinosaurs might be still alive. In fact, many conspiracy theorists are stating that these creatures along with many other extinct species might still be alive but the governments of all nations are keeping it a secret. I was very surprised when I heard this and wanted to know more about this matter. So I decided to do some research into this matter.

Are dinosaurs still out there somewhere?

If you are someone who loves dinosaurs then I can say that these creatures are in fact still alive. I mean birds are the descendants of dinosaurs themselves which proves this fact. However, birds had evolved from only some species of dinosaurs which were related to the Archyopteryx which was a bird-like dinosaur from the Mesozoic era. And science claims that other dinosaurs especially famous names such as the T. Rex, Triceratops and many more are not alive any more. But many people have objected to this claim.

In fact, many people say that the existence of crocodiles is proof that prehistoric species still exist. While crocodiles are prehistoric reptiles themselves, they are not dinosaurs. Apart from dinosaurs, other forms of megafauna such as woolly mammoths and Sabre tooth tigers are not alive as well. However, several sightings by anonymous individuals have another story to tell. A major sighting is that of the Loch Ness monster which is an unidentified creature spotted in the Loch Ness lake of the United Kingdom. Many people who saw it during the 20^th century described it as having a long neck like a swan but bigger and a reptilian head. There is also the case of the Mokele Membe which is a creature that many people have seen in the forests and swamps of Africa. The creature is said to be huge with elephant like feet and a long neck and mostly fed on the natural vegetation and attacking people. There has also been rumours about a reptilian creature seen in the forests of Congo that resembles a T. Rex.

Most scientists have rejected these claims by labelling them as nothing but false rumours. However, what is still unexplainable is how the local tribal people living in such areas are confidently claiming that these sightings are true. The people in UK who have seen the Loch Ness monster refuse to accept it as a hoax and claim that the creature is real. However, a major conspiracy theory is that the Chinese government had found a land filled with dinosaurs and other extinct creatures. Recently, I heard news where some people claimed that the Chinese government had sent some explorers to an island in the Pacific which was never explored by anyone. However, the explorers returned with tales of enormous creatures who resembled dinosaurs living peacefully in that place. Although the Chinese government claimed that it was nothing but fake news, I was shocked when I heard some online sources stating that they could not contact the explorers in any way possible. Now I do not know what the matter is but it could be possible that the Chinese government did find extinct animals on an island or it could be just a false story for people’s entertainment. However, it is hard for me to label all the sightings that many people have experienced as false memories and hoaxes. Therefore, I do not know what the truth is. However, I am pretty sure that there are mysteries in the world that are still yet to be solved.

My final thoughts

Honestly, I believe that dinosaurs and other extinct species will never come back. However, since the previous extinction events were not started by humans, it could be possible that these creatures did find a way to survive and are probably in a place that humans can never reach. Maybe one day the truth about all those weird sightings will come out in front of the public. But in the meantime, we should continue living our everyday lives and be grateful to God that the dinosaurs are still not around us. Otherwise, it would not have been possible for us humans to thrive on this planet.
