Ever since the late 80s and early ’90s, Bollywood has been ruled by the three ‘Khans’. And by three ‘Khans’ I specifically refer to Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. While SRK is known to be the most popular ‘Khan’ in Bollywood and is followed by Salman Khan, Aamir Khan whom I can refer to as the third ‘Khan’ in terms of popularity among the masses, stands next in line with the two. Ever since I was a child, I loved watching the movies that starred all three ‘Khans’. However, I always seemed to find the movies of Aamir Khan to be the most unique. While SRK and Salman have done movies that did not have good scripts or strong messages, I always found that Aamir Khan’s movies seemed to be devoid of all of these shortcomings. I even found his mass entertainers such as ‘Ghajini’ or ‘Dhoom 3’ to be more unique with scripts that I cannot call done to death and silly storylines. However, I found his movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ to be one of the best films in Bollywood. As an Indian man who grew up watching my parents feel scared of their future due to movies like ‘Baghban’, I feel that a movie like ‘Taare Zameen Par’ is the right antidote for movies like the former one and can help Indian parents know the worth of their children. Apart from this, I also feel that movies like ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and ‘3 Idiots’ can help parents understand the pain and struggles of their children, especially, regarding the career choices that they make in their life. Therefore, I can say that such movies have increased my respect towards Mr. Aamir. Therefore, I was excited when I heard that Mr. Aamir is going to offer us another movie which has been officially titled ‘Sitare Zameen Par’. I decided to know more about this upcoming film and I was even more excited by what I learned.

Will Amir Khan’s movie reach the ‘Sitare’ again?

I was only a teenager when ‘Taare Zameen Par’ was released back in 2007. The movie’s storyline deeply connected with my emotions as I saw the struggles of a child with learning issues whom no one wants to understand except for his teacher who was of course played by Aamir Khan. As someone who was a below-average student during my school and college days, I can deeply relate to the movie’s central character and the theme or message that it tried to convey. My parents who were always harsh on me because of my poor academic performance changed their ways after they saw the movie. This made me realize what kind of impact this movie had on its audience.

Now I have learned that Aamir Khan is going to make another movie with a similar tone as ‘Taare Zameen Par’. The movie has been titled ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ and will probably deal with similar issues that were addressed by ‘Taare Zameen Par’ back in 2007. However, Aamir Khan did announce on 10^th October, 2023 that this movie might be not what I and others are expecting. Mr. Khan announced that unlike his role in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ where he is the one who saves the day by helping Ishaan Avasti’s character (played by the talented Darshil Zafari); in this movie it is his character that will need help from everyone. Mr. Khan also stated that his character in this movie will need help from some boys who will have their issues as well. Apart from this, I also learned from the announcements that the movie will be an entertainer and possibly a comedy unlike ‘Taare Zameen Par’ which was a serious film. However, I could not get to know more information about the movie’s plot or Aamir Khan’s character in the movie. I also do not know when the teaser and trailer of the movie will be launched. All this, however, has made me even more excited to see this movie after its release.

What can we expect regarding the movie’s success?

Honestly, I cannot tell now whether the movie will be a success or not. The makers of this movie have kept its plot and release date a secret to build more hype among the audience. I also do not know whether this movie will be a success or not since Aamir Khan has been facing a lot of negative feedback from the Indian audience ever since his last release ‘Laal Singh Chadda’ had flopped brutally at the box office. This along with some controversial statements that Mr. Khan had made the previous year will make it more difficult for him to be successful again at the box office. However, I hope ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ win everyone’s hearts just like ‘Taare Zameen Par’ did all those years back. I mean if the other two ‘Khans’ have managed to regain their position at the Indian box office then why can’t Aamir Khan do the same? Thus, time will tell if the movie will be successful or not, especially, since the taste of the Indian audience, especially youngsters has changed since 2007. However, since despite changing preferences, if highly commercial movies like ‘Jawan’ become successful at the box office, then, I believe that movies with some subtle social messages such as ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ could also become a huge hit.
