Infinix Note 30 5G

Infinix company has already announced the newest addition to its smartphone lineup in India, the Note 30 5G. This is the first device to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC and also features a 108 MP main camera. Priced at Rs 14,999, not many phones can boast of the specifications it offers and there is a lot of competition in the budget segment. This review analyzes the features of Note 30 5G and sees if it is the smartphone for us. The Infinix Note 30 5G gets the new MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chip, 108MP triple rear camera, 45W fast charging support, multiple charging functions, JBL-tuned stereo speakers and more.  Infinix Note 30 5G is offered at a competitive price with impressive features like MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor, 108MP camera and decent performance. There are a few hiccups in the user interface and camera performance, but it offers a solid build and satisfactory battery life. Overall, it’s a good choice for mid-value users.

Design of Infinix Note 30 5G

The Infinix Note 30 5G gets the features of a polycarbonate unibody construction with a matte finish on the back. The rails are polished and nicely complement the design. The huge camera body houses a triple camera and flash setup. As for the feel, the Note 30 weighs around 210g, which is a bit heavier than I expected and is 8.5mm thick. I chose the Magic Black colour option. It is visually appealing and resistant to fingerprints and smudges. Finally, the phone features his JBL-tuned stereo speaker setup, with his USB Type-C port on the bottom and a  fingerprint reader mounted on the side. It has a boxy design with flat edges. On the back of the phone is a giant camera that looks like two large sensors and two smaller sensors on this phone. However, this phone gets in itself with 3 sensors and an LED flash. A large camera shakes the phone on a flat surface, but that’s not a problem. There is a speaker grille on top, and the bottom frame consists of the main microphone,  USB Type-C port,  headphone jack and speaker grille. On the left side, it is a full-size SIM tray. The phone is also available in Interstellar Blue, Magic Black, and Sunset Gold colours. The Interstellar Blue version has a glossy back. The phone turns green or yellow depending on the angle you tilt it in direct sunlight.  Sunset Gold features a leather back panel similar to the Infinix Zero 5G 2023, while Magic Black also offers a sophisticated matte finish.

The Infinix Note 30 5G comes with a 6.78-inch IPS LCD screen while its predecessor had an AMOLED display. However, the on-screen content was crisp and vivid, so it didn’t affect the viewing experience. The phone is equipped with a rather large 6.78-inch LCD panel that is refreshable at 120Hz and has an FHD resolution. The bezels surrounding the panel are a little thick, especially around the chin, but given the screen size, there’s plenty of viewing space. When it comes to colours, the panel doesn’t have much off-axis shift, and the saturation is a bit high. The display supports a  refresh rate of 120 Hz for a smooth navigation experience. You can also set it to 90Hz or 60Hz, depending on your choice. The display reaches a peak brightness of up to 580 nits. Watching both seasons of Asur on the Infinix Note 30 5G, with its large Full HD display and JBL-tuned stereo speakers, was a blast. There is also some backlight bleed around the top punch holes. Otherwise, the media content will be displayed in good quality on the phone with less than optimal brightness. For OTT services, the phone has his WideVine L1 certification for HD streaming. The Note 30 5G features a 6.78-inch FHD IPS LCD. The centre punch hole on the front is larger than other terminals.

Processor of the phone Infinix Note 30 5G

This phone comes with the processor of MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080 which powers the Infinix Note 30 5G, making it the first device to do so. It can be understood that the phone Note 30 performs at the level expected of a budget phone. According To the benchmarks, the device also scored 406,313 on AnTuTu v10. On Geekbench 6, the phone scored 722 and 2040 for single and multi-core scoreboards respectively. The SoC is also paired with a Mali G57 GPU and 8GB of RAM. The Infinix Note 30 5G gets extra more memory, which is why it now starts at 128GB of storage. The figures are well in line with current offerings in this segment, and in the hands-on experience, the Note 30 didn’t hold up against medium or low-end tasks. This includes Chrome’s overall interface and browsing experience while using social media. As for GPU performance, the device also gets managed to record 24fps in GFXBench Manhattan 3.1, but it also did manage to heat up a bit. The Infinix Note 30 5G handled our daily tasks very well. Whether it was Google Chrome for web browsing or browsing social media apps, we didn’t face any frustrations.

Software update on this Phone

The Infinix Note 30 5G runs XOS v13.0 based on Android 13. Our device is running the March security update. The phone has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable in 8GB increments via virtual swap. You will hardly find a device with such a large memory at this price. It is also expandable with a 2TB microSD card. Your device has a lot of bloatware, some of which cannot be removed. But this time, the app didn’t bombard us with notifications like other Infinix devices we used during testing. The phone’s fingerprint sensor works as advertised, as does  5G connectivity. The Infinix Note 30 5G comes with the latest  XOS 13 operating system based on Android 13. The user interface is packed with many features such as super exposure, eye care, focus mode, child mode and many more. The interface comes with some pre-installed apps and ads, but users have the flexibility to disable or remove these apps to improve their individual user experience.

Camera Performance of the Phone

The Infinix Note 30 5G has a 108MP primary camera backed by a 2MP depth camera with an AI lens. There is nothing special about the images produced by the main photographer, and with plenty of light, the result handles details well enough for my taste. The camera interface is simple and the same as other Infinix smartphones. It has multiple modes including portrait, beauty, AI camera, panorama, AR shooting mode, 108MP, documentary, slow motion, pro, movie, slow motion, sky store, dual video and even short video mode. Infinix plans to release the Street Photo Filters after the OTA update, but no date has been set. It takes a while to lock focus and the manual exposure slider can be adjusted a bit. Colours are more on the saturated side, and this level increases with AI-based scene recognition. Images are taken at 12.5-megapixel resolution, which uses nine-by-one pixel binning. In high-light conditions, the primary sensor captures well-detailed, high-contrast images. The dynamic range was well controlled. Natural objects such as trees and flowers appeared to be oversaturated, see examples below. The 108-megapixel resolution captures more detail, but images take a long time to process. The weak performance of the device is above average and worsens when ambient light is not particularly supportive. Details can look washed out, while shadows and highlights aren’t particularly well defined. The picture improves in Super Night mode. Selfies clicked by the phone give a slightly false impression of skin tones, but perfect facial details.

Battery of Infinix Note 30 5G

Infinix has many promises about the Note 30 5G battery and charging technology. In addition to the 5000 mAh battery capacity, the device has many charging features that are likely to be found in other devices in this segment. The phone has a 5000 mAh battery. As for the battery life, the phone scored almost 13 hours in the PCMark battery test, which I think is acceptable. It has  45W wired fast charging, bypass charging and wired reverse charging. We have already explained how to use bypass loading in our game section. Infinix says its charging solution can drain half of a phone’s battery in less than 30 minutes. A full charge takes up to 80 minutes or less, which is about what you’d expect at this price point.

Price of the phone

The Infinix Note 30 5G turns out to be a huge upgrade over the outgoing Note 12 5G. The Infinix Note 30 5G is available in two stock variants in India. Unlike last year’s Note 20 5G, the newer version now starts with a base 128GB  variant. Priced at Rs 14,999, not many phones can boast of the specifications it offers and there is a lot of competition in the budget segment.
