Since 1610, the Sabina Roy Choudhury family has been carrying out Durga Pujas at their first residence in Barisha, Kolkata.This Puja joy is undoubtedly the oldest in Kolkata. In 1757, Nabakrishna Dev started this puja at Shobhazar Rajbari.
In Kolkata, Barowari Durga Puja first took place in the first decade of the 1900s. In just a few months, Barwari Durga Puja in Kolkata grew between the general public.
