Chail is a quiet hill station (44 km) near Shimla, famous for the world’s highest cricket ground and the heritage hotel Chail Palace. Surrounded by pine and deodar trees, Chail is situated at an altitude of 2250 meters above sea level. Chail, the former summer capital of Patiala,  was built by the former Maharaja of Patiala after he was expelled from Shimla (he escaped with the daughter of the then Commander-in-Chief of the British Army, Lord Kitchener). Chail is well connected to cities like Delhi, Chandigarh and Shimla by regular buses and taxis. National Highway – 5 and Kandhaghat-Kufri-Chail Road connect Chail to them
