Bollywood seems to have found a new formula for success and it is to make movies that heavily depend on patriotic themes and topics. It is a well-known fact that the Indian audience is very sensitive, especially in issues related to nationalism and the Hindi movie industry is using this as an opportunity to make good films that help to fan these sentiments. After watching ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’ and seeing them become successful overnight, I realized that ‘Sky Force’ which is one of the most exciting movies that will be released by Bollywood very soon is following the same formula. The movie is going to have a plot that is based on the air war between India and Pakistan which happened in 1965. This movie will star Akshay Kumar in the lead role along with several other actors. The teaser of this movie has been released recently which has made the Indian audience excited. Now the main question is whether this movie will be successful or not. The other question however, is whether the new success formula of Bollywood will be effective in the long run and whether Akshay Kumar who is known for making movies having strong messages will make the audience happy.
Will ‘Sky Force’ Fly High at the Box Office?
The teaser of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Sky Force’ was released on 2nd October 2023. When I heard that the teaser would be launched soon, I was very excited and honestly, I can say that I am not disappointed. The teaser shows a voiceover of what appears to be a speech by the former President of Pakistan Muhammad Ayub Khan who was holding office during the India-Pakistan air war in 1965. The clip shows the former Pakistani President giving some sort of a warning to India. However, the teaser started giving me goosebumps when it featured the former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was incumbent at the same time giving a counter speech in response to the warning. The clip shows the former Prime Minister confidently saying that India does not fear anyone. This single clip made me excited enough to see this movie and be excited for whatever it has to offer to the audience.
The movie’s plot has also got me very excited. Its story is set during the 1965 conflict between India and Pakistan where India launched an aerial surgical strike in response to the ‘Operation Grand Slam’ by the Pakistani army where the latter tried to attack certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir. As a person who loves to watch movies based on historical events and wars, this movie has captured my attention the most. After watching movies based on patriotic themes such as ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, I surely believe that this movie is going to leave a great impact on the box office. The teaser of this movie does not reveal much information except for two clips from the leaders of India and Pakistan which happened in real life. The makers of this movie have been secretive about the roles of Akshay Kumar and the rest of the cast members so I do not know if Mr. Khiladi Kumar is playing the role of a real person or not. This is an excellent way for the makers of this movie to help the audience be more excited about it without giving any major spoilers except for what the plot is based upon. In recent times, Akshay Kumar has faced a lot of unjustified criticism and trolling from haters and critics alike because of his choice of movies and actions in real life. Therefore, I believe that this movie will help him give a good reply in the face of his haters and also revive his career after a bout of several unsuccessful movies.
My Final Thoughts…
Since this movie has so many expectations from its makers, its success is crucial not only for Akshay Kumar but also for Bollywood as a whole. This is because of the major criticisms regarding certain controversial issues that many Bollywood films have gained in recent times. Such criticisms and relentless trolling on social media have been responsible for the failure of movies such as ‘OMG 2’ or actors like Akshay Kumar himself facing severe backlash online because of certain statements about national issues. Therefore, this movie has got to be the perfect opportunity for producers in Bollywood to shut such critics up for good. What excites me even more is that Bollywood is going to release two movies based on important events related to the Indian Air Force which are ‘Tejas’ and ‘Sky Force’ almost at the same time. Although the movies might not be clashing with each other at the box office, I am sure that both of them will be successful since they will educate people regarding the important historical events that our country had witnessed while also providing strong and patriotic messages concomitantly. Therefore, as fans of the ‘Khiladi Kumar’ of the Hindi movie industry we wait patiently with bated breath to see whether Akshay Kumar can successfully rule rowdy over our hearts once again.
