The Indian Premier League, also known as TATA IPL, is sponsored by Tata . This is a man’s twenty-20 cricket league. This happens only once in a year in India . IPL was started first in 2007 by BCCI. There are ten teams, and their team names are selected based on their city names. It is played in summer between march and may every year, IPL will be the most popular cricket league in the world in 2024 .

HISTORY OF THE INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

India’s victory at the 2007 T-20 world cup was the beginning of this tournament IN 2007. It starts in April 2008 in New Delhi; at that time, CCI‘s vice president was Lalit Modi, who led the IPL initiative. The last winners of IPL in last five years are: 2019: Mumbai Indians, 2020: Mumbai Indians, 2021: Chennai super Kings; 2022: Gujrat Titans; Chennai super Kings.

The league has ten teams and their names are selected based on their city names across India , so those are:. CHENNAI SUPER KINGS [CSK], PUNJAB KINGS [PBKS], DELHI CAPITAL [DDC], KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDER [KKR], MUMBAI INDIANS [MI], LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS [LEG], SUN RISESRS HYDERABAD [SRH], ROYAL CHALLENGERS BENGALURU [RRCB], RAJASTAH ROYALS [RR].

UNIQUE RULES AND VARIATIONS OF INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

There are several rules of cricket; those are known as laws of crickets . These are: incorporate television time-outs; each match there are strategic time-outs during the innings; DRS has been used in IPL matches since 2018;

AWARDS FOR THE INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

ORANGE CAP : This is awarded to the highest run scorer at the end of each season of IPL . The first players who wore orange caps were MC Callum and Shaun Marsh, and in 2016, Virat Koholi won this cap.

PURPLE CAP : This cap is awarded to the highest wicket taker at the end of each season of each IPL. The most recent winner of the award is Mohammad Sham of the Gujarat Titans in 2023 season, who got 28 wickets.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER : This award also called ”the man of the tournament. It is awarded using a ratings’ system from 2013, and Sunil Marine will be the winner in 2024.

FAIR PLAY AWARD : This award is given each season to the team with the best fair play record. The third umpire scores the performance of the teams .

EMERGING PLAYER AWARD : It was presented to the best under 19 players in 2008 , and it was known to the best under 23 players in 2009 and 2010. In 2011 and 2012, this award was known as RISING STAR OF THE Year, and in 2013, it was known as BEST YOUNG PLAYER of the season. Since 2014 this award is known as EMERGING PLAYER OF THE YEAR, the only foreign player who won this he is MUSTAFIZUR RAHMAN , NITESH KUMAR REDDY is the winner of this trophy in 2024.

MAXIMUM SIXES AWARD:  This is given to him who hits most sixes at the end of the season, etc.

VENUES OF INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

It was played at 13 stadiums across India. Opening match was played at M.A. CHIDAMBARAM STADIUM, CHENNAI. ARUN LATELY STADIUM at Delhi was not available for that Delhi capitals played their first two home matches at ACADIA cricket stadium. . The Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings played two home games at the ACA and HCA cricket stadiums, respectively. The first two playoff matches were played in Ahmedabad, with Chennai hosting the final leg of the playoffs, including the final.

MARKETING

This year, Tata Group renewed their contract as the title sponsors of the Indian Premier League for a tenure of 5 years, which means from 2024 to 2028 for 2500 crores [US$300 million]—the highest ever sponsorship amount in Indian history. Also, in 2022 and 2023, Tata Group previously held the sponsorship rights.

BROADCASTING

The official TV broadcaster of the season is STAR SPORTS, while the digital broadcaster is JIO CINEMA, where we see the IPL without any subscription.
