Maruti Suzuki has newly launched  the Fronx which is a crossover based on the baleno and keep the priced at Rs 7.46 lakh and the top price of Rs 13.14 lakh on ex-showroom Delhi. The crossover is also available in the five wide trim levels and comes with two petrol engine options – a 1-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.2-litre that is naturally aspirated Dual jet petrol engine. Although the Fronx is based on the Baleno hatchback, its design was inspired by the Maruti Grand Vitara, making it luxurious. Maruti Suzuki Fronx price in India starts at ₹ 7.47 Lakh. The Fronx is available in 9 colors – Nexa Blue (Celestial), Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Oulent Red, Earthen Brown with Black Kat, Splendid Silver with Black Kat and Oulent Red with Black Top. Fronx seats 5 people. Fronx mileage is 20.01 – 22.89 km/l. Fronx  received the Safety Class Not Tested. The Fronx car is available in 12 versions and 1 fuel option – petrol. Fronx petrol models have a 1197cc engine that produces a peak power of 89bhp @ 6000rpm. The Fronx is also offered with a 998cc petrol engine that produces a peak power of 99bhp @ 5500rpm. The new Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki was launched in India in April 2023. Fronx is rated 8/10 by our experts and  86% of users. Frond is 3995 mm long, 1765 mm wide and 1550 mm high. The crossover SUV has a wheelbase of 2520 mm and  a luggage compartment of 308 liters.

What are the variants of Maruti Fronx?

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has five trim options: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha. There are six types of monochrome color and options to choose the from: Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Arctic White, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red and Splendid Silver. In addition to all of these, you have the three two-tone options: Earth Brown and Blue Black, Splendid Red and Blue Black, Splendid Silver and Blue Black also.

What are the features of Maruti Fronex?

On startup, the engine feels refined and it’s hard to tell there’s a three-cylinder engine under the hood. Acceleration is sharp and you might be surprised how quickly the engine revs and hits the limiter. But the most impressive is the average price. All that 147.6 Nm of torque is available from 2,000 rpm which is giving the Fronx a big boost. Passing a long trucks or in slow traffic is no effort at all, whether in town or on the highway, because the Fronx reaches triple digit speeds very quickly. And it is not only fast, but also fuel-efficient. Maruti claims a fuel efficiency of 20kmpl which sounds good but  we will check it soon. All in all, we’re just glad that Maruti has decided to not only bring back the Booster jet engine, but also localize it, which only means more fun Maruti cars in the future.

Mysterious ride and the Handling of Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

In terms of time and handling our Maruti Suzuki has already outdone itself. As a crossover, the Fronx has gets about 20mm more ground clearance than the baleno and is 190mm tall. Maruti Suzuki  achieved this with the new 16-inch wheels and revised spring rates. The Fronx’s ride quality  is so good  it puts some decent SUVs to shame. The suspension feels firm on good roads, but as soon as you go over a bad spot, it absorbs the bumps very well. Even more impressive is how smooth the suspension is on really rough sections. Apart from the ride quality, even the ride feel is quite good. There’s weight to the steering and the Fronx feels quite nimble on its feet. It’s bumpy on tight sections and feels nice and stable on long, sweeping corners, making it ideal for long-distance rides. Overall, Maruti Suzuki has struck a great balance between ride and handling with the Fronx and we love it.

Exterior design of Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

the Fronx is not at all an SUV type rater it is actually a crossover. But Maruti has left no stone unturned to give it the right SUV treatment. The front treatment is very similar to the larger Grand Vitara, so instead of this the headlights that you will get a bright next wave grille  flanked by LED DRLs which is also on the either side. You also get a thicker chrome strip that will runs through the grille and joins the DRLs. The bottom of the front bumper is also gets a mandatory and a base plate. From the side of it, the silhouette is more like a coupe from than a box. You can also get a plastic trim that will runs through the length of the car. The 16-inch of alloy wheels also get a pretty cool design. And if you look over the back, the taillights that are connected to an LED strip. The base plate of it is also at the back and we can see that with the design inspiration of the Grand Vitara which is taken from these notches with  integrated reflectors. Overall, we will look like how the Fronx looks completely different from the Baleno and Maruti Suzuki which has done a good job of giving the car by its own identity.

Interior Design of Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

The entrance is very familiar. The dash and layout is quite similar to what you see in the Baleno, but it’s not so much bad  at all. The panel is pretty well designed and the quality of  the plastic and switches is pretty good too. You don’t have really get a high view from the seats like in SUVs, but also even then the visibility is amazing. However, the seat is also a little too soft for our taste. The padding could be a little firmer and would help on long rides. There’s a plenty of knee room in the back seat and  just about enough headroom despite the sloping roofline. However, what cannot be overlooked is how the dark in the cabin feels and this is due to the use of dark materials. Even the windows are not very large, which makes the cabin seem even more compact than it really is.  Fronx is quite feature packed. First up is the nine-inch infotainment system, which is the same as seen in the Whale, and it’s not  bad  at all. It has sharp graphics, is smooth to use and easy to connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Arkamy sound system further contributes to this. In addition, you get a wireless phone charger, a head-up display, a 360-view camera and much more. However,  in our opinion, the lack of a sunroof and ventilated seats, similar to the Whale, is a big drawback. The front has six airbags, hill hold assist and ABS and ESP.  The big elephant in the room, of course, is that Maruti hasn’t announced  crash tests for the Fronx. Competitors like  Tata Nexon and  Mahindra XUV 300 have already been tested and performed well. Maruti Suzuki has worked hard on the Heartect platform, using ultra-strong steel for a stronger body structure, but benchmarks would reinforce the HEARTECT platform’s focus on safety and further reassure buyers.

The overall Conclusion of Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

The Fronx looks great and the fact that it looks like a smaller grand Vitara from the front only helps. Kudos also to Maruti Suzuki for bringing back the Booster jet engine  with the Fronx and also offering an automatic transmission. Even with  the features, the Fronx has almost everything you need except the sunroof and ventilated seats. The only place  the Fronx lacked was the immediate sense of  space in the cabin. Overall, we think Maruti has done a good job with the Fronx in giving the car its own identity. We expect  the price of Fronx to be between 10 and 14 thousand rubles, depending on the variant.

What are the pros and Cons of Maruti Suzuki Fronx?

Pros:

  • The Maruti Suzuki Fronx offers a front design inspired by Grand Vitara, which goes with the body side  cladding and a high riding position. In the flesh, the Fronx looks tough and feels nothing like the Baleno despite sharing the same underpinnings. It also has a ground clearance of 190 mm, which makes it more practical than the Baleno.
  • The Fronx is currently the only Maruti Suzuki to offer a turbo petrol engine. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Fronx also offers a 1.2-litre regular petrol engine with either a 5-speed manual or  5-speed automatic manual transmission.
  • Fronx offers a long list of features that are standard in all versions. These features include automatic air conditioning, tilt steering, all electric windows, remote central locking, projector headlights and rear defogger.
  • The top version of the Fronx crossover includes features like  360-degree parking camera, head-up display, 6 airbags, electronic stability program,  shifters, mobile phone charger, rear AC outlets, keyless entry with  engine start and stop button. and UV cut windows.
  • The Fronx is the only car priced at Rs. 10 lakhs offers an adjustable headrest for the fifth passenger  with a 3-point seat belt. Other cars in the segment and even above it have a fixed headrest and  lap belt for the 2nd row middle passenger.

Cons:

  • While the Fronx is a fairly loaded crossover, you can overlook features like rain-sensing wipers, a tire pressure monitoring system, a power sunroof, and a rear seat.
  • The Fronx crossover will not offer factory-installed CNG capability at launch. Maruti Suzuki might launch the Fronx CNG  a few months after the launch of the Fronx.

What will be the Price of Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

Price of Maruti Fronx in India ranges between Rs. 7.46 Lakh and Rs. 13.13 Lakh. The Maruti Fronx variants start from 7.46 Lakh – 1.2 L Sigma MT and goes up to 13.13 Lakh – Alpha DT AT. Maruti Fronx is also available on EMI starting at Rs. 15.32 K with 8.5% interest rate.
