How to make Rava dosa:

                      First let me tell you this is a south Indian dish but this dish can be made at home with some few simple steps which  I am going to share with you today.This is a very delicious dish that everyone loves to eat. Now let ,e show you how to make it. Basically masala dosa originated in the Tuluva Mangalorean cuisine, from Karnataka. This recipe is very popular all over India and now it’s also popular in many country. It is very easy to make at home.

INGREDIENTS:

A dish of crispy Rava dosa accompanied with chutney and sambar.

Rava Dosa

Rava: one cup

Wheat flour: 2 tablespoon

Salt to taste

Sugar: 1 teaspoon

Curd: 1 cup

Potato:  4 medium size potatoes

Oil: 4 tablespoon

Mustard:  1 teaspoon

Urad dal:  ½ teaspoon

Chana dal:  ½  teaspoon

Cumin:  ½ teaspoon

Hing: pinch

Ginger:  1 inch

Turmeric:

Coriander leaves:   4 to 5 tablespoon finely chopped

Lemon:  1 tablespoon

Coconut: 1 cup grated

How to make Rava masala Dosa

PREPARATION

Make batter: First I am going to tell you how to make the batter for the dosa. First you need to take a bowl and add 1 cup of rava, 2 tablespoon wheat flour, ½ teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Then mix all the ingredients well and make a powder with the help of mixture grinder.  Now add one cup of curd and mix It well until its combined well.  Then add ½ cup of water. The batter is ready. Now leave the batter for 15 minutes.

Masala dosa stuffing with boiled potato: To make masala dosa stuffing you need to boil 4 medium sized potatoes. Then take a pan and add 2 tablespoon oil. Then add 1 teaspoon of mustard, half teaspoon urad dal, ½ teaspoon chana dal, 1 pinch hing, few of curry leaves, two finely chopped green chili, one inch of chopped ginger and one medium sized onion. Sauté in medium flame until the onions turn  golden drown. Then add half teaspoon turmeric and mix it well until it’s turns aromatic. Then add boiled potatoes and mash it slightly for smooth texture. Then add two tablespoon finely chopped coriander then add half lemon juice and mix well.  Now Aloo bhaji  is ready.

Now let me tell you how to make coconut chutney: First  you need to take one cup of coconut then add two chopped green chili, few curry leaves, half lemon juice then add salt to taste. Then add water as needed. Then make a smooth chutney.

Now it’s time to make samber:  As you know dosa is a traditional dish which everyone loves to eat. Samber is flavorful and it’s loaded with vegetables.    Now I will tell you how to make samber. First you need to use three kinds of dal like ¾ toor dal, ½ moong dal and ½ cup masoor dal. Then cook those dal with 2 cups of water till mushy and soft. While the dal cooks then you need to take a large pot and heat  1 teaspoon oil then add 1 medium sized chopped onion and all the vegetables like 1 medium sized chopped carrot, 1 medium chopped vegetable drumstick, 1 one chopped okra, 1 large chopped tomato and chopped red pumpkin then sauté for 2 minutes. Then add ½ teaspoon red chili powder. Now you can add mashed boil dal and 4 cups of water and mix it well. When the water in the pot you need to add 2 tablespoon tamarind water, ¼ teaspoon turmeric, samber powder and salt to taste. Then add coriander leaves. For tempering  you need to take small pan then add ½ teaspoon oil .when the oil turns hot add ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 pinch of methi seeds and 2 broken dried red chilies, ½ teaspoon mustard seeds, 1 sprig curry leaves and 1 pinch of hing and add with the samber for a good aroma. Now the samber is ready.

Make rava dosa in hot tawa : Heat nonstick pan on a medium high heat. When the pan turns hot, add few drops of oil & grease it well  and wipe it. Then put the batter in it to make a dhosa as needed. Then spread on it in a medium flame. Now add the mashed fry potato for stuffing. Then roast it until it turns golden brown. Then fold and take down.

Now your tasty masala dhosa is ready to serve. Now take a plate and serve it with coconut chutney and samber.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. Grease the pan very well before you pour the batter to make dosa.
  2. If the batter is not thin enough then you can add more water if it is thick.
  3. If the batter is excessively runny then add few teaspoon rava to make the perfect batter.
