Meghan Markle, Prince Harry buy screen rights to popular novel resembling their life for Netflix film: Report

by | Aug 7, 2023 | Entertainment | 0 comments

According to reports, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have bought the picture rights to Carley Fortune’s recent novel “Meet Me at the Lake” in order to adapt it into a Netflix movie. The well-known book has been a bestseller in “The New York Times” for six weeks since its May release. The plot of the book centres on a woman in her 30s who falls in love after losing her mother in a car accident.

According to Deadline, the book looks into issues including “childhood trauma, including losing a parent in a car crash, mental health challenges, and post-natal depression.” Harry’s life and the book are similar in that his mother, Princess Diana, died in a vehicle accident in 1997. Later, he ran across Meghan, and their love affair began.

The book’s ideas captivated the pair, it was said.

According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Meghan and Harry’s contract with Penguin Random House may have cost close to $4 million. The source claimed that the book’s themes “grip[ed] the couple, and it was chosen for their first adaptation with Netflix.”

Numerous setbacks have recently befallen Meghan and Harry. Spare, Harry’s autobiography, experienced a backlash. Harry participated in multiple interviews to promote the book, and the biography included several criticisms of prominent members of the Royal family. Recently, Meghan’s podcast on Spotify was rejected. There won’t be a second season of her podcast, Archetypes.

According to the Wall Street Journal, insiders close to Spotify stated that the royal couple fell short of the productivity threshold required to get full compensation. But Meghan apparently has plans to start other podcasts.

A second season of the show was supposedly going to be released on Spotify after the first one ended. The couple would stop producing Netflix documentaries, writing autobiographies, and participating in interviews that disparage the Royal Family, according to sources close to Meghan and Harry.

“I’m so sick of his whining and comparing.”

The couple is currently facing backlash on social media for their most recent action. “To make a movie about this is a little macabre. Harry has some really serious problems. Mark my words, that author will regret making this choice,” a fan tweeted. They don’t have the money to develop a movie, one user said in a remark on the thread, among others. This is ridiculous. It’s awful! I’m so sick of his complaining and comparing. One user commented, “They could have chosen any other book,” and another said, “This is disgusting, if true. Do these two ever think of other people? Not only his aunts but Diana’s sisters as well? Not just his brother (we know he has problems there)?

They witness their sister being sold by her own son for profit. He degraded her image. He is a very terrible individual. One person remarked, “Very sinister… obsessive.”
