IQOO Z7 5G vs Oneplus Nord CE3 Lite : Full Comparison

by | Jul 11, 2023 | Mobile Phone | 0 comments

iQOO Z7 5G

Vivo’s iQOO sub-brand has tried to make a name for itself in all smartphone price ranges, but its nomenclature can sometimes leave consumers wondering what constitutes a premium offering and what doesn’t. For example, its latest release, the iQOO Z7, seems to be from the same series as the iQOO Neo 7. Both have quite similar features, but the iQOO Z7 is priced even more competitively. The iQoo Z7 5G is the company’s latest smartphone priced at Rs. 20,000 in India. It is the successor of the Z6 5G and compared to its predecessor, the price of the Z7 5G is slightly higher. However, the new phone gets a lot of improvements, such as a brighter screen, an improved camera system and support for faster charging. The iQoo Z7 5G competes with the recently launched OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G. The iQoo Z7 5G is the successor to the Z6 5G launched in India last year. New 5G smartphone under Rs. 20,000 is aimed at delivering segment performance and a good fast charging experience.

iQOO Z7 5G has been launched in India with great features. The smartphone will go on sale in India on March 21 at 1:00 PM. Additionally, the brand will almost launch the device on its official Indian YouTube channel at noon. The same has been launched globally and it is also in India.

Oneplus Nord CE3 Lite

OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G is official in India. The new flagship 5G smartphone is one of the company’s most affordable Nord-branded phones and is the successor to the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G (Review). The Nord CE 3 Lite 5G gets significant upgrades in some areas, while some features remain unchanged. Fortunately for consumers, the launch price of the phone is the same as the outgoing model. The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite is the company’s latest entry-level model for the Asian and European markets. The third-generation version is a modest upgrade over its predecessor, with the most notable changes on paper being the move to a new 108-megapixel main camera and faster 67W SUPERVOOC charging. The Nord CE 3 Lite is also largely identical to the Realme 10 Pro phone we previously reviewed. That means it has the same 6.72-inch 120Hz 1080p display, 5,000mAh battery,  headphone jack and aforementioned 108MP primary camera. And since it is, after all, a rebranded Realme phone, it also lacks unique OnePlus features like the notification slider. The iQoo Z7 5G is the successor to the Z6 5G launched in India last year. New 5G smartphone under Rs. 20,000 aims to deliver segment-leading performance and a good fast-loading experience.

Design

iQOO Z7 5G

The thinnest body of the iQOO Z7 5G is 7.8 mm. It has a rectangular camera body with a glossy black finish. The affordable frame is made of polycarbonate.  iQOO Z7 has a plastic body with rectangular edges and a matte metal surface. Weighing  173 grams, the phone seemed just right for everyday use, light enough in the hand or pocket. The review unit I received was the Norwegian Blue, which resembled the Neo 7 previously reviewed. In addition to the volume control and the power button on the right, it would be nice to know that there is also a 3.5 audio jack. I think it was much needed as the single speaker below offers a poorer audio experience.

Oneplus Nord CE3 Lite

The Nord CE 3 Lite has a 6.72-inch  IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2400×1800. The screen supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Even a fraction matters because most apps don’t run at 120Hz on the phone, more on that later. OnePlus claims a typical brightness of 550 nits and a peak of 680 nits. In terms of refresh rate, the screen can refresh up to 120 Hz, which it does on the home screen and in some default apps. The display can also switch between 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz based on content, which is good because it covers all the popular frame combinations. Viewing angles are better than typical budget OLED panels, with no strange colours when viewed from an angle. The dynamic refresh rate does not work in all applications. While in the YouTube app, the phone can detect the frame rate of the video and adjust the screen refresh rate accordingly, in all other video apps the screen would only stay at 60Hz.

Specifications of the Performance

iQOO Z7 5G

The iQOO Z7 5G has a graphics card designed for gamers. It has MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G SoC and Android 13 based Funtouch OS, octa-core processor. It also comes in two storage configurations – 6GB RAM / 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM / 128GB internal storage. Because there is no mention of expandable storage capacity, but still the storage space offered is not necessarily a hindrance. The phone runs Android 13 with Funtouch OS 13 on top. Two major Android updates and three years of security support are promised. The iQOO Z7 is built on the MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G mobile platform with an octa-core processor. The device I tested had 8GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM, which helped apps run pretty fast and games run flawlessly at 60fps. In composite tests, the iQOO Z7 scored 1040 points in single-core tests and 2481 points in multi-core tests. The iQOO Z7 runs on Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13. However,  bloatware degrades the user experience with frequent pop-ups.

Oneplus Nord CE3 Lite

The Nord CE 3 Lite runs  OxygenOS 13.1  on top of Android 13. At the moment, there is no real difference between OxygenOS 13.1 and Realme UI 4.0, which itself is no different from ColorOS 13. The Nord CE 3 Lite runs on  Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, but also the previous generation Nord CE 2 Lite. Additionally, there is 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and  128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage with microSD expansion. With the virtual memory expansion feature, you can create a 4/6/8 GB page file for storage that you can replace when the device’s system memory runs out. The performance of this chipset is adequate at best. Gaming is also bad unless you like mostly simple arcade games. It doesn’t help that most of them have the display set at just 60Hz. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC. The phone comes standard with 8GB of RAM  and 128GB / 256GB of storage. A fingerprint sensor and AI facial recognition are mounted on the side.

Camera

iQOO Z7 5G

The iQOO Z7 5G has two rear cameras. It has India’s first 64 MP OIS Optical Image Stabilization camera and 2 MP camera. It has a 4K video recording resolution that allows you to capture the perfect video. The dual rear camera setup has a 64-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel portrait lens. There is a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies. The presence of a single rear camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor has become the mainstay of iQOO devices. The 64-megapixel camera is surprisingly good for a cheap phone. Both during the day and after sunset, the main camera had rich colours. The videos shot were quite stable thanks to the built-in OIS, but the overall quality is almost good enough for social media posts. The 16-megapixel selfie camera takes clear selfies in daylight, but the default artificial intelligence filters out smooth skin details quite unnaturally.

Oneplus Nord CE 3 Lite

The Nord CE 3 Lite has a triple camera on the back, but as you can see, it only has one usable camera. The main 108-megapixel f1.75 camera is carried by the Realme 10 Pro, as well as the 2-megapixel depth sensor. New here is the 2MP macro mode, but you can probably tell by now that it’s not a worthwhile addition. There is a 16-megapixel camera on the front. The main camera gives decent results in daylight. The detail is good, but at the end of the day, images are limited by the output resolution of 12MP, so it doesn’t matter if the images are taken at 108MP, especially since they are not regular RGB pixels. The images are also slightly over-sharpened as if sold with a 108-megapixel jump. It’s not very wide at the back, which should rightly put a lot of people off. Most people would have opted for one usable ultra-wide camera over two placebo cameras, but bean counters don’t think like you or us, so it’s two dummy cameras. Its triple rear camera setup also includes two 2-megapixels for macro photography and depth mapping.

Battery

iQOO Z7 5G

The iQOO Z7 5G is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery and 44 W lightning charging. It provides a 50 per cent flash charge in 25 minutes. However, if you compare the price, the capacity may be right. The phone supports 44W fast charging out of the box. The iQOO Z7 has a 4500mAh battery and supports fast charging up to 44W. It took less than an hour to fully charge the phone using the included 44-watt charger. I got close to 7-8 hours of screen on, the usual  2-3 hours of Call of Duty Mobile, a few hours of phone calls, and an hour or two of browsing and watching videos. I plugged it in at the end of the day with a 20% battery.

Oneplus Nord CE 3 Lite

The Nord CE 3 Lite has the same 5000mAh battery. The phone comes with an 80W charger but supports up to 67W. faster loading did not appear to be enabled with the firmware we tested. When we did the charging test, the Nord CE 3 Lite charged from 1 to 55% in 30 minutes, which is identical to the Realme 10 Pro with a 33W fast charger. Checking the input power, the phone also reported a maximum of 27W, which is the same as the charger’s 33W. After the software update, our review unit now charges correctly. A 30-minute charge yielded 78 points, which is pretty close to the claimed 80 per cent. The phone reported a 100% charge in 43 minutes, although the actual 100% charge takes 53 minutes because the phone continues to charge even after reporting a 100% charge.
