The 6th of July is celebrated as Umbrella Cover Day every year all over the nation. To remind people of the importance of umbrellas as well as their covers, a special day is dedicated to umbrella cover day. It is always important to emphasize the importance of an umbrella, which is very important for us, especially on a rainy day. The umbrella is actually a protector that protects us from harmful sunlight and rain, and we have to protect our umbrella from harmful insects and adverse weather conditions. So, we have to use umbrella covers, which come with every brand with an updated system. Umbrella protectors are used for keeping wet umbrellas in a congested place. Nowadays, umbrella covers are used to market the brand of a company. So, search for your perfect umbrella cover and keep it safe.

HISTORY OF UMBRELLA COVER DAY

Umbrellas have been used for a long time. The ancient Egyptians, Indians, and Persians used umbrellas for shading. At that time, leather umbrellas were used to signify the wealthy, high-status families as well as the powerful rulers. Even the pope used a red and yellow umbrella for shading, and it was called ‘unbraculum’ at that time. This design has been reproduced in churches all over the world. Ancient Roman and Greek women used umbrellas, which signified their femininity. They also used a huge coliseum for covering with umbrella canopies that were rainproof and sunproof, and they named it Velarium.

Umbrellas became popular in Europe around the 16th century. The nobles kept umbrellas by their hall door, where they used to walk from door to carriage. As Greeks and Romans believed, the English believed that the umbrella was an integral part of women, and it was Jonas Hanway who started to use an umbrella to get protection from rain. But he had left the practice of using an umbrella after 30 years, when he became a mocking item. But his stance broke the taboo, and men started using umbrellas everywhere. The English adopted the term “hanway” to refer to an umbrella. France also adopted the umbrella for regular usage, and they made light-weighted umbrellas with very cheap materials like silk and cotton, which became damaged very soon. Frenchman Samuel Fox discovered a new, updated version of an umbrella where he used whalebone material to make the frame and also invented a strap to keep the umbrella tight in the cover. This type of umbrella extended its lifespan by two years. Jonas Hanway and Frenchman Samuel Fox made this item popular all over the world.

In history, we have had a clear description of the umbrella and its source, but no one has ever mentioned the umbrella cover, as we always get an umbrella cover when we buy an umbrella. We had no clear description of the umbrella cover, as umbrellas were once very costly and were used by rich and wealthy people. We are now using it because it is now affordable and available everywhere. It is very rare to buy an umbrella without a cover. Not only the regular hand-held umbrellas but also the golf umbrellas, patio umbrellas, and other models all come with covers.

Nancy Hoffman opened an umbrella museum in Portland, Maine. Actually, she discovered the museum when she saw several umbrellas covers in a closet in her house. Now she hosts online and offline exhibitions at her museum, including the stories of umbrellas, covers, and their owners.
